DI Men?s Basketball Player of the Week - No. 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Anthony Dorsey of Truett-McConnell (Ga.) has been named the NAIA National Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Dorsey was selected based on his performances from Jan. 14 - 20 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Dorsey, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., played a key role in Truett-McConnell's (Ga.) 2-0 week that included a 92-79 win over Coastal Georgia on Jan. 14 and a 68-65 victory at Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Jan. 17. The senior forward averaged 30.5 points on 65.1 percent (28-of-43) shooting. He also averaged 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and two steals per game for the week. Dorsey's back-to-back 20-plus point performances gives him 17 on the season, including a current streak of nine-straight.

Against Coastal Georgia, Dorsey fell just one point shy of tying a season-high with 38 points on 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) shooting. He also added eight rebounds and three steals in the win. With the performance, Dorsey eclipsed the 1,000 career point plateau. He concluded his stellar week with a 23-point and eight rebound effort against Brewton-Parker.

On the season, Dorsey leads the NAIA in points per game (27.9) and total scoring (531).
