2022-23 NAIA Men’s Basketball All-America Teams Announced

Men's Basketball - Jamestown University
Mason Walters of Jamestown (N.D.)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its three men’s basketball All-America teams and honorable mentions on Tuesday on the heels of the 85th annual NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship. Mason Walters of Jamestown (N.D.) was named the NAIA National Player of the Year after helping guide the Jimmies to Kansas City and to a 27-7 record. The NAIA National Coach of the Year will be announced later this spring.

Three teams of 12 players each comprised the three teams, along with the 46 player honorable mention list. No school had more than one selection on each team while IU South Bend (Ind.), Morningside (Iowa) and Northwestern (Iowa) each had two listed on the honorable mention list.

Walters is now a three-time NAIA Men’s Basketball First-Team All-America selection and again put-up incredible numbers for the Jimmies. The Jamestown, N.D. native, averaged nearly a double-double with 26.6 points per game for his squad (second in the nation) and 9.4 rebounds per game. The senior shot 63.8 percent from the floor throughout the course of the season and ranked fourth in the country with 321 total rebounds.

As a whole, seven players moved from being named an honorable mention a season ago to one of the three NAIA All-America teams in 2023. Of that group, Zach Goodline of Huntington (Ind.), Caleb Bellach (Montana Tech), and Tristan Harper of Langston (Okla.) were the three players to move from honorable mention in 2022 to first team in 2023. Three players returned to the first team after having been named to it a season ago (Matt Simpson of Florida College, Mason Walters and Riley Minix of Southeastern (Fla.)).
