Oakland City's Djiya Turns in 10 Blocks in Win at Faulkner, Claiming Men's Basketball Defensive Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oakland City (Ind.) center Lohan Stephane Djiya had 10 blocks in an 89-83 win over Faulkner (Ala.), one of two wins for the Mighty Oaks last week that helped the junior earn the Dec. 2 edition of the Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week award.

Djiya started the week with three blocks, playing just 17 minutes in a 75-53 win over Columbia (S.C.), adding three rebounds.

His command of the paint continued in Oakland City's six-point win over Faulkner, where he helped limit the Eagles to 34.7 percent shooting, including an 11-for-36 first half (30.6 percent). In all, Oakland City turned away 12 Faulkner shots in the game, 10 by Djiya.

Oakland City is off until Saturday, Dec. 6, when the Mighty Oaks travel to Bethel (Tenn.).
