Lucky No. 3 for Jesse Van Kalsbeek of Northwestern, two 30+ Point Performances Last Week Earns him Offensive Player of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jesse Van Kalsbeek of the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders earned the Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after putting up 30 or more points in back-to-back road games.
Kalsbeek helped NWC go 2-0 on the week with a 98-90 win at Briar Cliff (Iowa) and a 76-66 victory at Mount Marty (S.D.). In the eight-point win against the Chargers, he played 38 minutes and scored 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the floor. He was also active on the boards in the game, recording 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Three days later, he ran it back against Mount Marty (S.D.), posting 36 points and ten boards in 30 minutes played. Kalsbeek shot 70.6% from the floor in the ten-point road win. Further solidifying his place at the top of the national leaderboard for points per game.
Overall, he averaged 33.5 points per game, 10 boards per contest, and added an average of two assists, one steal, and 0.5 blocks per game. Collectively, Kalsbeek shot 66.7% from the floor and 78.3% at the charity stripe.
The Red Raiders are back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 11, against Morningside (Iowa). Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m.
