Jesse Van Kalsbeek Strikes Again With Highlight Game For the Gared Performance Sports Offensive Player of the Week Honors
Kansas City, Mo. - The sophomore forward from Sheldon, Iowa, Jesse Van Kalsbeek, struck again last week with his second game of the year, netting more than 40 points. Van Kalsbeek picks up his second Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honors, also winning back in week one, Nov. 4.
The sophomore's week tipped off with another in-state battle against William Penn (Iowa) on Nov. 11. He played 24 minutes and had the hoop looking like a trash can, shooting 58.6% from the floor and a perfect 13-of-13 at the charity stripe. He dished out eight assists with two steals for his second game of the season, scoring above 40 points at 47.
Van Kalsbeek nearly did it again in the GPAC opener against the Tigers of Doane (Neb.), shooting 57.7% from the field and 72.7% at the foul line for 38 points.
His statistical sheet was packed after just two games played last week, averaging a triple-double with 42.5 points, 14.5 boards, and 10 assists. He added one block and four steals as well. Van Kalsbeek leads the Red Raiders in points per game (34.3), field goals made per game (13.3), and free throws per game (7.4).
Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Men's Basketball Offensive Players of the Week are announced every Tuesday throughout the season, with the final player of the week for the first half of the season being released on December 9.
