KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jordan Carter of Corban (Ore.) has been named the final NAIA National Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the 2011 – 12 season, the national office announced Tuesday. Carter was selected based on his performances from Feb. 13 – 19 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groups.

Carter, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard, posted back-to-back career-high 35-point performances to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 week, including a 90-79 upset victory against then-No. 1 Oregon Tech. Against the Hustlin’ Owls on Feb. 18, he shot 9-of-13 from the field, including a career-high six 3-pointers to lead all scorers. He also added six rebounds and two assists in the effort. Carter opened the week with a 9-for-15 performance from the field, including a 5-of-8 effort from beyond the arc to lead Corban with 35 points, as the Warriors knocked off Southern Oregon, 91-78, on Feb. 17.

For the week, he averaged 35 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the field, including a blistering 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from beyond the arc.

A native of Salem, Ore., Carter leads the team in points (17.6 ppg), rebounds (5.1) and assists (3.6). Nationally, he ranks third in 3-point field goal percentage behind a 48.9 percent success rate.
