STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - The NAIA Men’s National Bowling Championships kicked off Thursday afternoon in Detroit, Michigan with a dozen teams taking center stage to start the quest to see who would be crowned 2024-25 NAIA National Champions. The day started with seeding play where the top four teams would receive a first round bye in the bracket, while the other eight teams would compete to see who would advance to the second round.
In seeding play, SCAD Savannah (Ga.) led the way with a total pin count of 5283. Indiana Tech took second place with a total of 5204 pins, while Lawrence Tech (Mich.) took the third-place spot with a total of 5135 total pins. The final first round bye went to St. Francis (Ill.) at 5109 total pins.
In the first round of bracket play, Kansas Wesleyan was the only lower seed to advance, winning 4-3 out of the No. 9 seed, over eighth-seeded Pikeville (Ky.). Milligan (Tenn.) topped Culver-Stockton (Mo.), 4-1, Concordia (Mich.) shut out Hastings (Neb.), 4-0, and Marian (Ind.) knocked off Cumberlands (Tenn.) in five games, 4-1.
Friday, bracket play resumes with top-seeded SCAD Savannah taking on Kansas Wesleyan, No. 2 Indiana Tech and Marian, No. 4 St. Francis and Milligan (Tenn.), and a local, conference matchup, as No. 3 Lawrence Tech (Mich.) plays Concordia (Mich.).
Hastings, Cumberland, Pikeville and Culver-Stockton will wait to see who they matchup with after the second round in the losers bracket. Round two competition will begin 8am Friday morning at 5 Star Lanes in Detroit, with live results on the Official 2025 NAIA Bowling Championship - Google Sheets.
