Trinton Nobles Wins Falcon Cup, Earning NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Friends (Kan.) senior Trinton Nobles put three rounds under par at Auburn Hills in Wichita last week, winning the Falcon Cup by four strokes over teammate Gabriele Romani to earn NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week, Oct. 22.
Nobles, from McKinney, Texas, opened the Falcon Cup with a bogey-free, 4-under 68, beginning his round with seven pars before closing the front nine with back-to-back birdies. He added two more birdies late in the round, and kept a clean card until his 22nd hole in the tournament. Nobles had already birdied the third hole, working around a double at the par-3 fourth with four more birdies to shoot 69, clinging to a two-stroke lead over Romani through 36 holes.
He backed up his second-round 69 with another of the same score, this time carding six birdies to balance three bogeys, closing the back nine with a blistering 4-under 32.
Friends concluded its fall season this week at the KCAC Match Play in Dodge City, Kan.
