Asher Thomas of the Midland (Neb.) Warriors Sets New Program Record En Route to Defensive Player of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Asher Thomas was a ground ball Warrior last week for Midland (Neb.). The LSM set a new single-game program record for ground balls in the first of two games last week, as he was a key cog for the defensive unit that allowed just one goal last week, earning NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Denver, Colo. native, opened the week with a record-setting performance against Ottawa (Kan.) at home, when he cleaned up 18 ground balls. He caused five different turnovers in that game as well, while adding a notorious long stick goal.
On the road against Missouri Valley three days later, the senior was just as dominant in cleaning up ground balls and causing turnovers, adding 10 pick-ups and forcing eight turnovers.
Overall, Thomas was all over the defensive half of the field, racking up 28 total ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
Asher and the Warriors are back in action and look to defend home field on April 11 as they stand off against the Spartans of Missouri Baptist in Fremont, Neb. The opening faceoff between the Warriors and Spartans will happen at 2 p.m. CT.
