TJ Murphy of Aquinas (Mich.) Lit up the Stat Sheet in 2-0 Week, Which Included an Upset of No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - TJ Murphy was the point man for the Aquinas (Mich.) Saints this past weekend. Murphy was locked in for both games, putting over 75% of his shots on frame to earn NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors.

He was nearly perfect in shots on goal percentage against Columbia (Mo.), where the Saints won 21-7. Netting five goals and earning one assist in the game, he picked up four ground balls and sent 7-of-8 total shots to the cage for an 87.5 shot on goal percentage.

Two days later, while his shot on goal percentage dropped to 70% (7-of-10), he was still a critical part of AQ's offense. In a tight game from wire-to-wire against No. 2 Cumberlands (Ky.) Murphy's five goals and one assist lifted Aquinas to a 13-12 upset victory. He added one ground ball and three caused turnovers to his line for the game.

Overall, Murphy was locked in, scoring a total of 10 goals with two assists. He finished the week with a combined shot on goal percentage of 77.8 with a 55.6 shot percentage.

TJ and company are back in action March 6 and 7 when they travel to the Show Me State for battles in Fulton, Mo., against William Woods (Mo.) on March 6 at 7 p.m. CT. Then on March 7 at 7 p.m. CT, the Saints will take on the Spartans of Missouri Baptist in STL.
