2009 Men's Soccer National Championship Quarterfinal Recap - Dec. 2
The Quarterfinals wrapped up at the 2009 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship on Wednesday from Fresno, Calif. No. 1 seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) survived a scare by Methodist (Tenn.) but scored two second-half goals to win 2-1. The goal allowed by the Blue Raiders snapped a seven-match scoreless streak but, in the process, extended their winning streak to 10 games.
Other winners were No. 15 The Master's (Calif.), No. 3 Rio Grande (Ohio) and No. 5 Simon Fraser (B.C.). The Master's, members of the Golden State Athletic Conference, advances to its first ever Semifinal. Rio Grande was the national runner-up from a year ago and will play in its fourth overall Semifinal match.
