Players of the Week - No. 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The fifth installment of the 2011 NAIA National Men’s Soccer Players of the Week were announced on Tuesday by the national office: Eddy Campbell of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) was named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week and Collin Cone of Grace (Ind.) was named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week. They were selected based on their performances from Sept. 26 – Oct. 2 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Campbell, a 5-8 junior midfielder from Kingston, Jamaica, found the back of the net twice and assisted on a third Lindsey Wilson goal to help the Blue Raiders upset No. 3 Rio Grande (Ohio) on Oct. 1 in the NAIA Game of the Week. He lit up the scoreboard in the 92nd minute for the golden goal and handed the RedStorm their first loss this year. The Blue Raiders won 3-2 as he finished with five points.

Cone, a 6-0 junior goalkeeper from Yaounde, Cameron, posted two shutout victories for the Lancers. He finished his week with nine saves in 180 shutout minutes of action. Cone led Grace to a 1-0 victory over Indiana Wesleyan, who was receiving votes in the latest Top 25. He tallied four saves on Sept. 28 as the Lancers won for the first time in the series since 2004. In that game, the Lancers played a man down, but Cone's defense helped limit the Indiana Wesleyan offense to five shots on goal. He also made five saves on the road in a 2-0 shutout of Goshen (Ind.) on Oct. 1.
