Pinto Selected as Men's Soccer Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Bethel University (Ind.) head coach Thiago Pinto was chosen as the 2022 Select Sport America NAIA Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year after lifting the Pilots to the program's first Red Banner. The fourth-seeded Pilots end the season with a 24-1-1 mark and won 22 consecutive matches to finish the campaign. In 13 total season as the head coach for the Pilots, Pinto has amassed record of 170-89-22.

Bethel was played and won their first national championship game in program history with a tournament total of 13 goals scored and three allowed while recording 67 goals scored and only 14 conceded throughout the season.

At the completion of the tournament, Tim Noeding was named the Most Valuable Player and the Outstanding Offensive Player as well as Gabriel Pacheco was Outstanding Defensive Player under Pinto's guidance. Finn Popescu, Andres Latore, and Luan Bressy were selected to the All-Tournament Team in addition to Pacheco and Noeding. For the season, Noeding was voted as the NAIA Player of the Year and a First Team All-American with teammate Joao De Oliveira and Bressy was a Second Team honoree. 

The 2022 Select Sport America-NAIA National Coach of the Year is voted on by the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches Association and is announced at the annual National Convention. To be eligible, a head coach must be selected as their conference or unaffiliated group coach of the year or lead their team to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Final Site.
