KANSAS CITY, MO.- Central Methodist (Mo.) sophomore Rimon Beyene anchored the Eagles’ defense during a perfect 2-0 week, earning NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Frankfurt, Germany, native helped guide CMU to shutout victories over ranked opponents, defeating No. 25 Missouri Valley and No. 21 Clarke (Iowa).

Beyene was a key presence on both ends of the field, limiting opponents to an average of just five shots per game. In addition to his defensive contributions, he recorded an assist on the Eagles’ second goal in Saturday’s win against Clarke.

With the two wins, Central Methodist improved to 4-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. The Eagles will continue conference action against Missouri Baptist on Wednesday at Davis Field.
