William Carey Keeper Barry Earns Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - William Carey (Miss.) senior goalkeeper Jamie Barry is the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, recording nine saves and a 1-0-1 mark against nationally ranked opponents Life (Ga.) and Dalton State (Ga.). The honor is Barry's second of the season, also earning the nod on Sept. 9.
Barry recorded a 2-1 win for the seventh-ranked Crusaders against No. 12 Life, Thursday, collecting seven saves in 90 minutes between the posts.
Saturday, he preserved a scoreless draw for the Crusaders, making a pair of saves and earning a shutout in 90 minutes against No. 10 Dalton State. Barry boasts the NAIA's third-best goals-against average (0.38), and the second-leading saves percentage in the association (.909).
William Carey (11-2-2, 6-0-1 SSAC) concludes the regular season this week on the road, with a pair of matches in the Southern States Athletic Conference, at Fulkner (Ala.) Thursday, and at Point (Ga.) Saturday afternoon.
