WVU Tech Claims Final Semifinal Spot With 4-0 Decision Over Indiana Tech

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - With the final berth into the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship semifinals on the line, WVU Tech (W.Va) battled to a 4-0 result over Indiana Tech, using goals in both halves to secure its place in the next round. The Golden Bears established its rhythm early, striking in the seventh minute when Leny Duperray finished off a sequence involving Keishon Clarke and Nicholas Ihnat. Ten minutes later, the lead increased to 2-0 as Duperray returned the favor with an assist to Ihnat, giving WVU Tech the advantage that held through halftime.

Indiana Tech increased its activity after the break, producing several stretches of possession and working into more dangerous areas, but WVU Tech continued to generate chances of its own. Julen Recalde added the third goal in the 69th minute on an unassisted effort, then extended the margin further in the 87th minute on a setup from Gonzalo Sabeh to complete the scoring.

Although the final outcome showed a four-goal margin, the statistical comparison was much closer. Both teams finished with ten shots, and corner kicks were even at three apiece. WVU Tech’s goalkeeper, Luka Felix, collected five saves to help maintain the clean sheet, while Indiana Tech’s keeper, Cuba Grant, recorded three stops.

With its scoring spread across both halves and consistent play on the defensive end, WVU Tech moves on to the semifinals.

WVU Tech (W.Va) will return to play on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.).
