Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

By Chad Waller, Director of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Hillary Holt of College of Idaho has been named NAIA National Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Reta Woodard of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has been tabbed as the NAIA National Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Holt and Woodard were selected based on their performances from Jan. 21 - 27.

Holt, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, was part of two school records at the Jackson's/New Balance Boise State University (Idaho) event from Jan. 25 - 26. She anchored the distance medley relay that set a school record with a mark of 11:59.43. With the first-place finish, that relay team became the first-ever at College of Idaho to break the 12-minute mark.  The two-time national champion in the Mile Run, Holt took third with a clocking of 4:48.55, crushing the school record by more than 10 seconds. In addition, she stands with the No. 1 mark in the NAIA this year in that event, by nearly seven seconds. In the relay, the team defeated teams from NCAA Division I and II.

One week after winning the national Field Athlete of the Week, Woodard continued to impress at the Jimmy Carnes College (Fla.) Invitational on Jan. 27. The junior from Spring Hill, Fla., broke her own school record in the weight throw for the third-straight time. Her "A" standard heave of 19.92 meters (65-4 ¼) was tops out of 17 competitors and put her No. 1 in the NAIA this season.

The next Athlete of the Week announcement will be on Feb. 6. For the complete Athlete of the Week calendar, click here.
