KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mike Malone of Ashford (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Calvin Sullins of Siena Heights (Mich.) has been selected as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Malone and Sullins were selected based on their performances from Feb. 3 – Feb. 9.

Malone, a junior from Country Club Hills, Ill., swept his five-event schedule at the St. Ambrose (Iowa) Fighting Bee Invitational on Feb. 8. He won the 55 and 200 meter dashes, with times of 6.53 and 22.87, and was also part of the Saints 4x400 relay, which bested the 28-team field. Malone also competed in two field events, the pole vault and long jump, winning both.

Sullins, a native of Sand Creek, Mich., recorded the No. 1 NAIA mark in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division II Hillsdale College (Mich.) Wide Track Classic on Feb. 8. As part of the event, the senior won the long jump with a distance of 7.04 meters and also bested the 15-man field in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.44. His 5,255 mark is just the second 5,000 point performance in the NAIA this season. It bests College of Idaho’s Austin Basterrechea’s 5,231 from the Ed Jacoby Invite on Jan. 31, for which he was named the NAIA National Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 5.
