Nathan Cemin Earns Indoor Track Athlete of the Week with Two First Place Finishes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Montreat (N.C.) junior Nathan Cremin has been named the NAIA Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking weekend at the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invitational in Tryon, North Carolina. The Limerick, Ireland native delivered two winning performances in two days, each meeting the NAIA “A” standard while also rewriting the Montreat program record book.

Cremin opened the meet on February 13 by taking first place in the 600 meters, winning a 17-athlete field in 1:18.90. The performance not only secured the victory, but also hit the NAIA “A” standard and registered as the third-fastest 600-meter time in the NAIA this season.

He followed that up the next day with an even more historic run in the 800 meters. On February 14, Cremin won the 800 in 1:48.30, topping a deep field of 51 competitors and again achieving the NAIA “A” standard. The time broke another Montreat College program record and stood out on the national stage as the second-fastest 800-meter performance in NAIA men’s indoor history, as well as the fastest recorded in the association since 1996.

This is the final indoor track athlete of the week award.
