Eli Stevens Overcame Hardship to Win Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo - Oregon Tech senior Eli Stevens of Medford, Ore., has been named the NAIA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after a commanding win in the decathlon at the Riverhawk Multi on March 24. Competing in a six-athlete field, Stevens scored 6,316 points to take first place, separating himself from the competition.

Despite a setback in the 400-meter race, he still overpowered the overall standings and produced the top decathlon score in the NAIA to date. His meet also featured multiple Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifying marks, including standards in the long jump, high jump, pole vault (missing a “B” mark by just .01), and javelin, underscoring his consistency and versatility across the full range of events.
