Park (Mo.) Middle Moises Ortiz Named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week After 11-Block Performance at Missouri Valley

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Park (Mo.) sophomore middle blocker Moises Ortiz recorded 11 blocks in a four-set win at Missouri Valley, capping a 3-0 week for the Pirates and earning NAIA Defensive Player of the Week honors for Feb. 17.

Ortiz led No. 3 Park to back-to-back sweeps on the road to start the week, recording two blocks and three kills in his only set at Graceland (Iowa) before collecting a block and a kill in two sets at Culver-Stockton (Mo.).

He made his mark at fourth-ranked Missouri Valley.

In a four-set win over the Vikings, Ortiz made a pair of solo blocks and was in on nine more assisted, ending his week without a blocking error. He also impacted the Pirates’ offense, collecting six kills to record 12.5 points in the match, a pivotal Heart contest between the NAIA’s third- and fourth-ranked teams.

The Pirates begin a four-match homestand tonight, hosting Ottawa (Kan.) and NAIA Setter of the Week Quentin Le Dortz, continuing the homestand Friday and Saturday against Mount Mercy (Iowa) and Clarke (Iowa). Next week, on Tuesday, Park hosts Kansas Wesleyan to close the home stretch.

The Feb. 17 award is the third set of NAIA Men's Volleyball Player of the Week designations for the 2026 season.
