Life's Rocky Raby Reels in NAIA Men's Wrestler of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Life University's (Ga.) Rocky Raby took home the crown in the 165-pound weight class at the Cumberland (Tenn.) Open after finishing the day with a 5-0 record en route to earning the NAIA Men’s Wrestling Wrestler of the Week honor. This marks Life’s second NAIA Men's Wrestler of the Week honor this season, following Gio Jackson’s selection in November.
Raby opened the event with back-to-back falls in 2:21 and 1:45, then stormed through the bracket with three straight tech falls, outscoring his final three opponents 57–9 combined. His run was capped by a 19-4 tech fall in the championship bout.
The Running Eagles hold an 11-1 mark on the season and return to the mat on Feb. 6 against Southeastern (Fla.). The Appalachian Athletic Conference Wrestling Championship is slated for Feb. 20.
