Stars Continue to Shine in NAIA World Series Run
COLUMBUS, Ga. - [Bracket | Schedule | Watch] Oklahoma City stays in the winner's bracket of the 2025 NAIA Softball World Series after a decisive 8-0 victory over Grand View (Iowa). The victory improved the Stars' record to 52-9, while the Vikings fell to 42-15
The game remained scoreless until the third inning when OCU broke through. A pivotal moment came when Iliana Ashford drew a walk with the bases loaded, allowing Grace Pollon to score the first run. Shortly after, Tara Hoehner's sacrifice fly brought in another run, giving Oklahoma City a 2-0 lead.
Oklahoma City continued to build on its momentum in the fifth inning. Ashford's double down the left field line drove in Tiffany Paul, extending the lead to 3-0. The sixth inning saw a remarkable three-run homer by Kindalyn Miller, which narrowly cleared the wall, further extending the gap to 6-0.
The seventh inning sealed the victory for OCU. Hoehner's triple to left center brought Paul home, followed by a sacrifice fly from Analise Rayburn, which allowed Hoehner to score. Both runs were unearned due to defensive errors by GVU.
On the mound, Emersen Heron delivered an exceptional performance for the Stars, pitching a complete game shutout. Heron allowed only four hits, issued two walks, and struck out four batters over seven innings, securing the win with a 92-pitch effort. GVU struggled to find any rhythm against Heron's pitching and was unable to capitalize on their few scoring opportunities.
OCU will play next in game 15 on Monday, May 26 at 7 p.m. against the winner of Marian (Ind.) vs Eastern Oregon. The Vikings will play in an elimination game on Monday at 4 p.m. against Georgia Gwinnett.
