Southern Oregon Moves on to the Elimination Game Championship After 18 Hour Delay

COLUMBUS, Ga. - [Bracket | Schedule | Watch] 20 hours after the pause at South Commons, the final game in the elimination bracket is set after Southern Oregon secured a hard-fought 3-0 victory over Georgia Gwinnett. The game began yesterday, the 27th, at 1:30 p.m. ET, and due to severe weather that rolled into the area, the game was halted going into the bottom of the seventh inning as the Grizzlies looked to make something happen.

Both teams remained scoreless through the first five innings, with SOU's pitcher, Ayla Davies, and GGC's pitcher, Annalise Wood (Jarvis), delivering exceptional performances in the circle. Davies was particularly dominant, striking out 12 batters while allowing only three hits over seven innings. Jarvis also held her ground, conceding six hits and striking out four over seven innings.

The breakthrough came in the top of the sixth inning for Southern Oregon. Kennedy Kila emerged as the hero, launching a three-run homer to left center, driving in Kailer Fulton and Faith Moultrie. This pivotal moment gave Southern Oregon the lead it needed, with Kila's home run accounting for all three of the team's runs in the game.

Despite their efforts, Georgia Gwinnett was unable to find an answer offensively. The team managed just three hits throughout the game, with Sara Roussel contributing a double as a highlight. However, they were unable to capitalize on these opportunities, leaving six runners on base.

The Raiders' defense, although not flawless with three errors, proved effective enough to maintain their lead. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies played a clean defensive game but could not muster the offensive firepower to challenge SOU's advantage.

Southern Oregon (52-9) moves on in a battle of the Oregons for a chance to play for a national title against Oklahoma City later today, while Georgia Gwinnett closes the book on the 2025 season with a 48-10 record.
