NAIA Women?s Soccer Players of the Week - No. 2
By Alan Grosbach, Manager of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jordan Davidson of Vanguard (Calif.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Helena Hansson of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has been tabbed National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Davidson and Hansson were selected based on their performances from Sept. 3 - 9 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Davidson, a junior forward from Tucson, Ariz., notched two multi-goal matches and collected an assist to lead the Lions to a 2-0 week, including a 4-0 victory against then-No. 17 Kansas Wesleyan on Sept. 3. Against the Coyotes, Davidson scored the eventual game-winner in the 12th minute before adding her second of the match in the 55th minute. Against Soka (Calif.) on Sept. 7, she again opened the scoring in the eighth minute before adding a second goal and assisting another in the 42nd minute. The two Lion scores were only 15 seconds apart.

Davidson, who owns five goals in three matches this season, ranks fourth in the NAIA with three game-winning goals.

Hansson, a freshman defender from Eskiltsuna, Sweden, played a key role in Embry-Riddle's 2-0 week that included a 3-1 victory against then-top-ranked Lee (Tenn.) on Sept. 9, snapping the Lady Flames' NAIA-best 20-match win streak. It was also the first time since Sept. 17, 2011 that Lee scored just one goal. Hansson and the Eagle defense held the defending champions to seven shots (three on goal) and just two corner kicks. Embry-Riddle's first victory of the week was a 3-2 decision against Oklahoma Baptist.
