2013 Women?s Soccer Players of the Week ? No. 8
By Alan Grosbach, Manager of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Megan Daniels of Concordia (Calif.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Offensive Player of the Week and Kristen Morency of John Brown (Ark.) has been selected as the National Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Daniels and Morency were selected based on their performances from Oct. 21 – 27 and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Daniels, a Lake Forest, Calif., native, turned in an impressive week, tallying back-to-back multi-goal games as Concordia (Calif.) remained unbeaten with victories against then-No. 6 Vanguard (Calif.) and Biola (Calif.). Against Vanguard, Daniels scored the Eagles’ final two goals, including the eventual game-winner in the 81st minute. Both goals came after Concordia began playing with 10 players after having an individual receive a red card in the 51st minute. The junior forward registered her second-straight game-winning goal three days later in the 30th minute of Concordia’s 2-1 victory against Biola, before adding a second goal in the 59th minute. Daniels is tied for the team lead with seven goals, while ranking second on the squad in assists with four.

Morency, a goalkeeper from Wheaton, Ill., extended her shutout streak to four games with back-to-back clean-sheets against SAGU (Texas), 2-0, on Oct. 24 and Texas Wesleyan, 1-0, on Oct. 26. The sophomore recorded seven saves against SAGU and five against Texas Wesleyan. With the performances, Morency now has 14 career shutouts with the Golden Eagles and has tied the single-season record of seven shutouts, which she set last year. On the season, she ranks 20th nationally in goals against average (0.78), allowing 11 goals in 1,284 minutes.
