Berg Karlsson Snaps 12-Year Record in Final Weekend of the Regular Season for Offensive Player of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mathilda Berg Karlsson of Northwestern Ohio had a record-setting day for the Racers back on Oct. 22 as she stands tall at the top of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference leader board in goals, assists, and total points for the soccer version of a triple-double in the regular season.
Berg Karlsson broke a UNOH record that had stood for 12 seasons against Indiana Tech at home when she recorded 12 points in a single match. She found the back of the net four different times, while assisting four more goals, having a direct impact on eight of the team's nine total goals against the Warriors. She put six of her nine total shots on frame during the game.
She is just the fifth player in Racers' women's soccer history to score four goals and finish the day with 12 points, a record that has stood alone since the inaugural UNOH season back in 2013. Berg Karlsson also concluded the regular season leading the WHAC in goals (13), assists (11), and total points (37). Her double-digit goals and assists mark the first time since 2019 that a player has recorded double-digit goals and assists season; the last Racer to do so was Kate Agyemang.
The top-seeded Racers will host Rochester Christian on November 1 at noon in the quarterfinals of the WHAC Tournament.
