KANSAS CITY, Mo. - SCAD Savannah (Ga.) swimmer Valle Gonzalez helped lead the Bees to two dominant wins Friday (Jan. 16), highlighting the day by setting a new school record in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.74, a new top time in the NAIA.
In all, she won four events, earning NAIA Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Jan. 21. It's her second award of the season, also claiming the season's first award on Oct. 15.
A freshman from Logrono, Spain, Gonzalez was part of an A cut in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard relay, with a B cut that also won the event in the 200-yard IM. She also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle, another event claiming an NAIA B cut.
Gonzalez made her mark in the 50-yard butterfly, where she beat 14 individuals, breaking a school record and recording the NAIA's top time.
The Bees beat Life (Ga.), 200-50, and Brenau (Ga.), 198-58. The wins marked the Bees' next-to-last home events of the 2025-26 season, as they go on the road to Emory University and Centre College Saturday (Jan. 24), followed by The Sun Conference Championships Feb. 5-7. Feb. 13-14, SCAD Savannah will host a two-day last chance meet.
