KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lauren Ramey of Aquinas (Mich.) has been named the final NAIA National Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the 2013 season, the national office announced Wednesday. Ramey was selected based on her performances from April 22 – 28 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group player of the week selections.

The junior native of Martin, Mich., went unbeaten in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles on the week at the Unaffiliated Group Tournament that featured Midwest Collegiate Conference, Association of Independent Institutions and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference teams.

In the quarterfinals on April 26, Ramey was victorious in No. 1 singles against Ana Hernandez of Indiana Tech, 6-0, 6-3. She teamed with teammate Rilie DuShane to win in No. 1 doubles against Indiana Tech, 8-2. Ramey helped the Saints to an 8-1 Indiana Tech. Later that day, in the semifinals against then-No. 24 Ashford (Iowa) Ramey secured two of the three points for the Saints in a 5-3 loss. Ramey picked up a 6-0, 6-3, win over Ashford’s Ursual Alvarado. Ramey and DuShane teamed to win in doubles 8-3.

Ramey completed her junior campaign with a singles record of 13-6 and a doubles mark of 11-6.
