Southeastern Topples Three Top-15 Opponents, Parigi is Perfect and Nabs NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Irene Parigi from Southeastern (Fla.) put together a perfect week in both singles and doubles to earn NAIA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, leading the Fire to a 3-1 team record that included three wins over Top 15 opponents.
She made an immediate impact in a 4-1 win over No. 7 SCAD-Atlanta with a doubles victory, then followed with a 6-2, 6-2 singles win and a 6-2 doubles win against Middle Georgia State.
On the road, she continued her strong play in a 4-2 win over No. 14 St. Thomas, contributing another doubles victory before delivering the biggest moment of the week against No. 1 Keiser. In the 4-3 win, she battled back for a three-set singles victory over No. 33 Lena Couto to help secure the match.
The win over Keiser marked the Fire's first victory over the top-ranked Seahawks in program history and handed them their first conference loss since 2017.
Southeastern is 8-3 on the year and 3-0 in conference play, with their next match on March 27 against Ave Maria (Fla.).
