Athlete of the Week - No. 2

By Chad Waller, NAIA Director of Communications & Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sharayah Kenady of Concordia (Ore.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week and Leandria Lee of Wayland Baptist (Texas) has been honored as the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Kenady and Lee were selected based on their performances from March 19 - 25.

Kenady, a junior from Salem, Ore., broke the Concordia school record with a distance of 184' 5" in the hammer throw at the Lewis & Clark (Ore.) Spring Break Open on March 24. That mark also ranks No. 1 on the NAIA performance list this year and bettered her previous career best by nearly 10 feet. She smashed the Cavalier best, which was held by Gabriella Dixson, by more than eight feet.

Lee, a senior from Tyler, Texas, had three strong efforts at the University of Texas at Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational on March 24. Her 24.41 clocking in the 200 meters is second-best in the NAIA this season and was eighth among a field of 59 athletes, which was comprised of numerous NCAA Division I and II competitors. She also took 16th in the 100 meters (11.96) and ran the first leg of the 4x400 meter relay (3:47.27), which turned in the NAIA's top time so far this outdoor season.
