NAIA Women?s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week - No. 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hillary Holt of College of Idaho has been named NAIA National Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Evan Shimanek of Oklahoma Baptist has been tabbed as the NAIA National Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Holt and Shimanek were selected based on their performances from March 25 – 31.
Holt, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, established two new school records during the NCAA Division I Stanford (Calif.) Invitational on March 29 and 30. Holt was victorious in both of her events at the meet winning the 1,500-meter run, in a time of 4:18.32 and clocked a 2:09.37 in the 800-meter run. Her 1,500-meter time is the fourth fastest in any college division this season and is the fastest in the NAIA by nearly 19 seconds.
Shimanek, a senior from Hennessey, Okla., established the top height this season in the pole vault. At the Oklahoma Baptist Open on March 30, Shimanek defeated 10 other competitors en route to winning the pole vault with a height of 3.81 meters (12-6). This is the top height in the NAIA.
