Sydney Perkins Lands New PR for Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Southern Oregon senior Sydney Perkins of Middleton, Idaho, has been named the NAIA Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after a standout performance in the pole vault at the Linfield Open on May 2.

Perkins won the event by clearing 3.78 meters in a 10-athlete field, delivering a four-inch personal best and securing the NAIA “A” standard for the first time in her career. Her winning mark also vaulted her into the national conversation, landing her No. 10 on the NAIA performance list.

Just as impressive was the margin of victory: Perkins cleared 7-3/4 inches higher than the runner-up.

This is the final athlete of the week award of the season.
