Blessing Ogundiran Set New School Rcords for Women's Track Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Warner (Fla.) freshman Blessing Ogundiran of Lagos, Nigeria, has been named Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after a performance that immediately reshaped the sprint landscape at the program, conference and national levels.

Ogundiran delivered her breakthrough performance at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements on April 3, where she dominated two of the deepest preliminary fields of the meet. In the 100 meters preliminaries, she surged to a meet-leading 11.21 seconds to finish first out of 83 athletes, a time that met the A standard. She followed that with another statement in the 200-meter preliminaries, clocking 23.59 seconds to win her heat and take first overall out of 84 competitors, again hitting the A standard.

Beyond the wins and the fast times, the significance of Ogundiran’s day lies in what those marks represent. Her 11.21 and 23.59 were not just personal bests; they rewrote the Warner record book as a freshman.

Warner will compete next at the South Florida Invitational on April 10 and 11.
