NAIA Volleyball Player of the Week ? No. 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Paula Ferreira of Columbia (Mo.) has been named NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Ferreira was selected based on her performance from Sept. 17 - 23 and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Ferreira, a 5-9 senior setter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, led the Cougars to a 5-0 record this past week. In a 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-15) victory over William Woods (Mo.), Ferreira recorded 41 assists, six digs and six kills. Ferreira continued her outstanding play in the La Quinta-KWU Volleyball Invitational where she averaged 13.1 assists per set and was named Most Valuable Player. On Sept. 22 Ferreira recorded a season-best 63 assists, 11 kills and a career-high six aces. In 16 sets this week, Ferreira recorded 210 assists, 35 digs, 24 kills and 12 aces.

Ferreira leads the NAIA in assists per set averaging 12.23. She leads the Cougars with 697 assists on the season, which is eighth most in the nation.
