2019 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week — No. 2 (Sept. 17)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Anna Wedel of Northwestern (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week, Mary Zimmerman of Life (Ga.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week and Taylor Parrish of Life (Ga.) has been named the NAIA National Volleyball Setter of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. The trio was selected based on their performances from Sept. 9 - 15 and were chosen out of a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institution winners.

Attacker of the Week
Anna Wedel, Northwestern
6-1, JR, OH, Orange City, Iowa

  • Wedel recorded a double-double against No. 19 Dordt (Iowa) with a career-high 22 kills and 13 digs.

    • 33 kills, 4.71 kills/set
    • 0.475 attack percentage
    • Also added 21 digs, one ace and three blocks (two assisted)

Defender of the Week
Mary Zimmerman, Life
6-2, JR, MB, Newborn, Ga.  

  • Zimmerman recorded a new career-high of nine blocks (seven assisted) against Faulkner (Ala.).

Setter of the Week
Taylor Parrish, Life

  • Parrish directed her team to a 3-0 week including an upset over No. 10 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
