Day 1 - 2021 NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship Pool Play
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – [SCHEDULE | RESULTS] The first day of the 2021 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Tyson Events Center saw 16 matches completed.
Pool Play Day 1 Highlights
- Five, five set matches on the day
- Five, four set matches on the day
- Six, three set matches on the day
- The highest set score of the day was 32-30 in the match where Viterbo (Wis.) faced Oregon Tech.
- Four, three seeds won a match today: Dordt (Iowa), Northwestern (Iowa), Montana Tech and Northwestern (Iowa).
- Northwestern (Iowa) is the only three seed that went 2-0 in their pool today. The Red Raiders have punched their ticket into the quarterfinals after winning their pool.
- Life (Ga.) was the only first-year team to win a match today.
- Only one team will advance out of each pool into the quarterfinals. In the case of a three-way tie, a tie break scenario will be played out.
- Two of the four teams in the championship field that have won a title in the past, won their matches today: Missouri Baptist and Park (Mo.)

The first two days of the tournament will consist of pool play matches. Pools are made up of three teams each and the teams that have the best record in each pool or win on a tie break scenario advance to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals are the beginning of single elimination bracket play with the winners advancing to the semifinals and then the championship.
