Southern Oregon Advances to Bracket Play

SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE] In a highly anticipated pool play match at the 2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, the Southern Oregon Raiders defeated the Viterbo (Wis.) V-Hawks in a three-set sweep (25-21, 27-25, 25-15).


Southern Oregon's offense was led by Hannah Stadstad and Megan Perry, who had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Vitoria Mattos and Annie Hite distributed the ball effectively, combining for 39 assists and an average of 13 assists per set. 

Hailee Halverson of Viterbo led the team with 10 kills and was followed by Jada Mitchell, who contributed 10 kills. 


Defensively, the Raiders out-blocked the V-Hawks with 16 total blocks (14 assisted) to six assisted blocks. Linda Conceicao stood out for Southern Oregon with three blocks, while Martina Grath led the way for Viterbo with two blocks of her own.

This is the third time that SOU has advanced out of pool play but only the second time that the team has played in a quarterfinal match at the national championship. 

Southern Oregon will play at 8:30 p.m. CT on Saturday against Cascade Collegiate Conference opponent Eastern Oregon.
