Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week - No. 4

By Chad Waller, Director of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Karlee Coffey of Eastern Oregon has been named the NAIA National Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Coffey was selected based on her performance from Sept. 24 - 30 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent runner of the week selections.

Coffey, a senior from La Grande, Ore., finished with Eastern Oregon's fastest 5,000-meter time in history. Her clocking of 17:17 at the Charles Bowles XC Willamette Invitational (Ore.) earned her a second-place finish. She also broke her personal record by 16 seconds and ended up just four seconds behind the individual medalist. She was the top collegian since the No. 1 finisher was an "unattached" runner.
