New Orleans Hornets to Honor Loyola (La.) Women's Hoops

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The New Orleans Hornets will honor the Loyola (La.) women's basketball team before the start of  Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers in the New Orleans Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

 

The Wolfpack women completed the season with a 25-9 record, winning the GCAC's regular season and tournament championships, while setting program records for wins (25), winning percentage (.735), winning streak (17 games), and finished the season a perfect 14-0 in The Den.

 

The NAIA coaches ranked the Wolfpack 21st in their last poll this season- the program's highest ranking since the Loyola women first took the floor in 1995. The team earned an automatic berth to the NAIA's National Championship Tournament , where they fell to Southern Nazarene 78-77 in overtime. The team holds a cumulative 3.5 GPA.

 

Kiely Schork, Trenese Smith and Trenell Smith were named to the GCAC's All-Conference team while Trenese Smith was named the conference's Player and Freshman of the Year.  Head coach DoBee Plaisance was named the GCAC Coach of the Year.
