GSAC Basketball Championship Games To Be Televised

Story by Golden State Athletic Conference

Golden State Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Daniels today announced that Fox College Sports (FCS) and Fox Sports Prime Ticket will televise the conference Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games live on Tuesday, March 10.

The GSAC Men's Basketball Championship game will be televised live at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Allen Hopkins will handle play-by-play duties for the men's game and will be joined by Josh Perigo.
Hopkins is a veteran college basketball announcer who has worked for FOX Sports and ABC/ESPN. In addition to his basketball coverage, Hopkins worked for FOX Soccer Channel for eight seasons as the play-by-play or lead analyst voice for many soccer broadcasts. Hopkins is also a graduate of Westmont College, playing on its men's soccer team.

The GSAC Women's Basketball Championship game will be televised live at 5:00 pm Pacific Time. Dave Caldwell will handle play-by-play duties and be joined by Maryalyce Jeremiah.

Caldwell is very familiar with the GSAC and is the current play-by-play announcer for The Master's College men's and women's basketball teams. He has done work with Cal State Northridge as well. Caldwell was named one of the Top Ten Play-By-Play sportscasters in Southern California by the Los Angeles Daily News.

Jeremiah is currently on staff at Hope International and is the former women's basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton. A member of four Hall of Fames, Jeremiah's teams have appeared in the NCAA Tournament every place she has coached. She took Indiana to the Sweet Sixteen and won a National Championship with the University of Dayton.

This is the third consecutive year the GSAC has had its conference championship games televised live on a regional or national platform.

"Our relationship with FCS presents tremendous opportunities for the Golden State Athletic Conference to gain national and regional exposure for its universities," said Golden State Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Daniels. "We have made great strides as a conference to showcase the talent we have at the NAIA level."

The GSAC consists of nine NAIA schools based in California and Arizona and is one of the premier conferences in the NAIA. The conference is home to the defending men's basketball national champion, Vanguard University. Currently, eight universities are ranked in the NAIA top 25 for both the men and the women led by fourth-ranked Hope International for the men and sixth-ranked Concordia University for the women. The GSAC is in its 29th year of existence.
