Daysha Reid Announced as Seasons First Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Daysha Reid, a freshman guard from Georgetown (Ky.), has been named the NAIA Women's Basketball Gared Performance Sports Systems Offensive Player of the Week. Hailing from Portsmouth, Ohio, the Reid has showcased an exceptional ability to score and contribute across the board.

Reid's performance over the weekend included an impressive 34.5 points per game, leading the Tigers to two commanding victories. She poured in 33 points against Miami-Hamilton, followed by a remarkable 36-point performance against Carolina. Her 36-point game was particularly noteworthy, as she came just one three-pointer shy of tying the Georgetown school record for made three-pointers in a single game, making nine out of twelve attempts.

Beyond her scoring, Reid contributed significantly in other facets of the game. Against Miami-Hamilton, she added six rebounds (2 offensive, 4 defensive) and four steals to her stat line, while against Carolina, she grabbed nine boards (2 offensive, 7 defensive), dished out three assists, and recorded three steals. 

Reid's shooting efficiency was a key factor in her success. Over the two games, she shot an impressive 61.9% from the field, including a 59.1% success rate from beyond the arc. Her ability to convert from the free-throw line, where she shot 57.1%, further highlighted her comprehensive offensive game.

In terms of ball control, Reid maintained a steady presence on the court, averaging 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game over the weekend. Her contributions were instrumental in the Tigers' dominant performances, as they defeated Miami-Hamilton 114-55 and Carolina 109-60.
