No. 6 Davenports Runs by No. 25 College of Saint Mary

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - (Box Score) No. 6 Davenport (Mich.) were burned down the nets against No. 25 College of Saint Mary (Neb.) in the first round matchup on Thursday morning of the 2013 State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship. The Panthers shot 53 percent from for the game in a 96-59 victory over the Flames.

Davenport started the game on a 7-0 run, but College of Saint Mary answered right back and with 14 minutes to go in the first half. Davenport found themselves down 11-10. The Panthers had an answer and started to pull away late in the half, as Kendra Cook extended Davenport's lead to 13 with one minute to go in the first half. Going into halftime, Davenport led 39-29.

The Panthers shooting heated up as the ten point lead was extended to 18 points, 55-37, six minutes into the second half. College of Saint Mary had no answer for the Panthers, who shot 58.8 percent from the floor in the second frame. Davenport saw its lead grow to as many as 37, the largest of the game for Davenport, as the Panthers defeated the Flames 96-59.

Kendra Cook led all scorers with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Five players scored in double-figures for the Panthers. Karyn Bixler scored a team-high 22 points for the Flames.

Davenport advances to the second round to face Cardinal Stritch (Wis.). The second round game will take place Friday at 8:30 a.m.
