KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Yajaira Alvarado of William Baptist (Ark.) picked up PrestoSports-NAIA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Honors after being the first NAIA women’s soccer student-athlete to reach double digit scoring this season.
The senior forward, was locked in last week over the two matches for WBU, helping her team cruise to a pair of victories. In the first against Lyon, she was involved in five of the eight goals scored; putting three away herself, while assisting on two more. She took nine total shots with five of them being on frame.
Three days later, the national leader in points and shots remained locked in against Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) in a 5-0 victory, finding the back of the net three more times after sending four of her nine shots on frame, extending her total goals this season so far to 13 as she leads the nation.
Alvarado and company are back on the pitch again at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Sept. 10 with kickoff set for 5 p.m. CT.
