The first NAIA National Championship game in the Lone Star State since 1976 is a rematch of last season’s championship game and the third all-time meeting between the Vikings and Seahawks, who split the first two meetings. Keiser claimed the semifinal matchup in 2022, while Grand View enters the 2025 game as the defending national champions, beating Keiser for the Red Banner last season in Durham, N.C.

All-Time Series

Saturday’s championship game will give its winner bragging rights in the all-time series between the schools, as Grand View looks to make it 2-0 against Keiser in national championship games.

But the two first met in 2022, in the semifinal round, a game that was all Keiser on Grand View’s turf. That win started a streak of four-straight championship game appearances for the Seahawks, while Grand View is in the title game for the third time in five years.

Both programs are making their fourth trip to the title game in program history, and Grand View hasn’t lost a game since the 2023 NAIA Semifinals.

Dec. 3, 2022 – Keiser 38, Grand View 21

For the first time in program history, Keiser claimed a win in the semifinal round. The Seahawks commanded the game from start-to-finish, leading 14-0 in the second quarter and 21-0 at halftime. Current QB Shea Spencer completed 17 passes for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the Keiser defense held GVU to negative yards net rushing in the game.

Dec. 21, 2024 – Grand View 35, Keiser 7

Grand View atoned for the 2022 loss in a big way and on the grandest of NAIA stages, as Jackson Waring threw the first three touchdown passes of the game, tacking on another late in the third quarter. His first two TDs were to a familiar target for 2025, Aisea Toki. Grand View’s defense claimed a turnover on downs in the first quarter, at its own five, and Kellen Moore iced the game for the Viking defense with a fourth-quarter interception in the end zone to halt Keiser’s final threat.
