KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ashton Vogel kicked a go-ahead 27-yard field goal with just under four minutes to play and defensive back Samirion Ford totaled 14 tackles, as then 10th-ranked Marian (Ind.) knocked off third-ranked Indiana Wesleyan 30-28 in one of the NAIA football season’s most anticipated games.

For their efforts, the duo collected PrestoSports NAIA Player of the Week recognition, Vogel as the special teams honoree and Ford on defense.

Ford, a junior from Indianapolis, had 10 solo stops among his 14 tackles on the day, a win that helped vault the Knights to No. 8 in this week’s NAIA Football Coaches Poll.

Vogel knocked six kicks through the uprights Saturday, including the game-winning 27-yarder. He also hit field goals from 35 and 42 yards, in addition to a perfect 3-for-3 on point-after attempts.

The Knights don’t get a break as they begin the MSFA Midwest portion of their 2026 slate, hosting No. 16 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) Oct. 17. Kickoff is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET, in Indianapolis.
