KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Texas Wesleyan sophomore kicker Freddy Joya is the NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on all nine kicks he attempted in Saturday’s 46-12 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Joya made five field goals with a long of 39, also connecting from 16, 20, 34, and 38 yards. He added four made point-after attempts, accounting for 19 of the Rams’ 46 points in the game.
The Nov. 3 award is Joya’s second of the season, capturing the same honor on Oct. 13.
Texas Wesleyan will battle for the driver’s seat in the Sooner Athletic Conference Saturday, hosting OUAZ (Ariz.) in an NAIA-UEN Featured Game. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CT at Crowley ISD Multipurpose Stadium in Fort Worth.
