KANSAS CITY, Mo – Kyla Dyrstad’s exceptional distribution and leadership helped power Morningside (Iowa) to a pair of conference sweep victories, earning the junior PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week honors.
The junior setter from Papillion, Nebraska, orchestrated Morningside’s attack, averaging 15.17 assists per set while compiling 91 total assists over six sets. Her playmaking helped the Mustangs secure straight-set wins over Briar Cliff (Iowa) and Doane (Neb.), extending their success in conference play.
Dyrstad opened the week with a solid performance against Briar Cliff, dishing out 48 assists in three sets, an average of 16.0 assists per set. She also contributed 10 digs, recording a double-double while guiding the Mustangs to a sweep.
She followed that effort with another standout showing against Doane. Dyrstad handed out 43 assists in the three-set victory while adding three service aces, five digs, and a block. Her 14.33 assists per set kept the Mustang offense operating at a high level throughout the match.
For the week, Dyrstad totaled 35 set assists opportunities, 15 digs, three aces, and a block to complement her 91 assists. She also averaged 2.5 digs per set.
Dyrstad’s ability to distribute the ball and create scoring opportunities was instrumental in Morningside’s perfect 2-0 week. Her impressive average of more than 15 assists per set highlights the efficiency and balance she brings to the court.
