KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Taylor (Ind.) sophomore middle hitter Ruth Anderson was a game-changing presence at the net during the Onset Invitational, helping the Trojans post a perfect 4-0 record.

The Newark, Ohio native totaled 29 total blocks (2 solo, 27 assisted) in 14 sets, averaging an impressive 2.07 blocks per set for the tournament. Her efforts have propelled her into the national standings, where she currently sits among the NAIA leaders at 1.71 blocks per set early in the season.

Anderson’s impact was felt throughout the weekend as she consistently disrupted opposing attacks. She recorded five blocks in a win over No. 21 Cornerstone (Mich.) before delivering a career-best performance against Indiana Tech with 10 blocks, controlling the net and helping Taylor secure a four-set victory.

Her defensive excellence continued against No. 8 Bellevue (Neb.), where she played a pivotal role in Taylor’s upset sweep. Anderson finished with nine blocks against the nationally ranked Bruins while also contributing offensively with 10 kills on a .714 hitting percentage, one of the most efficient attacking performances of the weekend.

In addition to her standout defense, Anderson was a major offensive contributor for the Trojans. She led the team with 34 kills while posting a .371 hitting percentage across four matches. She hit .545 against Indiana Tech, .714 against Bellevue, and .353 against Rochester Christian (Ohio), demonstrating her ability to influence matches on both sides of the net.

For the weekend, Anderson averaged 2.43 kills per set and 3.54 points per set, finishing with 49.5 total points while anchoring a Taylor squad that collected victories over Cornerstone, Indiana Tech, Bellevue, and Rochester Christian.
