KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A remarkable week from Stefania Scomazzon helped Benedictine (Kan.) extend its winning streak and secured the junior right-side hitter PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week honors.
Scomazzon was nearly unstoppable as the Ravens extended their winning streak to 12 matches, averaging 5.0 kills per set while hitting an impressive .566 over three victories. Across 10 sets, she recorded 50 kills, just seven attacking errors on 76 attempts, while also contributing seven service aces, nine digs and five total blocks.
The highlight of her week came in a straight-set victory over Friends (Kan.) on Sept. 22. Scomazzon delivered a program-record performance with 20 kills in three sets, attacking at a remarkable .633 clip. She added five service aces, five digs and three blocks while averaging 6.67 kills per set in the match.
She followed that effort with 11 kills against Graceland (Iowa), helping the Ravens secure another sweep. Scomazzon added two blocks and hit .421 in the victory.
Closing out the week on the road against Peru State (Neb.), Scomazzon again led Benedictine’s attack with 19 kills on a .593 hitting percentage in a four-set win. She also chipped in two service aces, four digs and two assists as the Ravens completed a 3-0 week.
For the week, the Cassola, Italy native produced 59.5 total points, averaging 6.0 points per set, while hitting above .550 and leading Benedictine’s offense in every match.
With Scomazzon setting the pace, the Ravens continued their impressive run through conference play, extending their winning streak to 12 matches.
